About This Event

In August 1992, the Mothers for Peace organization hosted a Giant Garage Sale in Thornhill to raise funds for children orphaned by the war in Croatia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. The event invited community members to donate household goods, furniture, clothing, and toys — with all proceeds going directly to the sponsorship of war orphans.

At the time of the event, the Toronto chapter had already sponsored 18 children, yet thousands more remained in need. This fundraiser captured the compassion and grassroots generosity of the Croatian-Canadian community, where even small household donations helped rebuild young lives torn by war.
